VINTAGE 2023

Yields were slightly lower than the 5 year average, resulting in excellent fruit quality with long extended ripening time, harvesting well into May. We can we can expect fresh, rich wines with good depth and quality from Padthaway Vintage 2023 – definitely one to watch

 

MUNDA (LAND/TERROIR)

A mix of lower (80%) country of red-brown clay for profile and body with upper (20%) country of deep red volcanic soils and granite for perfume and lift

 

HARVEST

Machine harvested in the early hours of the morning to retain freshness

 

FERMENTATION

De-stemmed, crushed and fermented into a mix of open and static fermenters. Fermented on Skins for up to 8-10 days

 

AGEING

Post fermentation the Cabernet Sauvignon was pressed off skins and transferred to a combination of 2nd and 3rd use French oak hogsheads for 12 months

 

AROMA

An aromatic nose of blueberry, violet and dry Autumn leaves

 

TASTE

Full to medium bodied, fresh varietal cassis and blood plum burst onto the palate. Vibrant fruit combines with notes of dark cherry and mocha. Structured with lingering flavours and well-integrated tannins

 

CELLARING

Drinking wonderfully in its youth, this wine will build complexity with mid to long term careful cellaring
