This week highlights First Nations and Indigenous cultures from around the world, and tonight we proudly poured alongside other incredible Aboriginal-owned businesses at a South Australian Product Showcase hosted by Austrade and the SA Government.

With guests from major hotel chains, sommeliers, wine writers (like the lovely Yoko & Yoko!), and industry leaders — it was an unforgettable evening sharing our story, our land, and our wines.

We hear this question a lot — and it’s an important one.

At Munda Wines, we’re not claiming that European winemaking is part of our traditional culture. What we are doing is honouring the traditional lands where our grapes are grown — and celebrating the deep, unbroken connection Aboriginal people have with Country.

What many people don’t know is that Aboriginal communities across Australia practised natural fermentation for thousands of years — with evidence of fermented beverages used in ceremony and gathering, particularly by the Palawa people of lutruwita (Tasmania).

This is a rich and complex story. And we’re proud to be a part of it.

Today on National Sorry Day, we pause to honour the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities who were impacted by the Stolen Generations.

At Munda Wines, this day is deeply personal. Our story is rooted in lived experiences — from grandparents who were taken at a young age, to generations born into missions — carrying the lasting impact of policies that tried to erase language, culture, and identity.

But we are still here. We are still strong.
With over 65,000 years of continuous culture, we are proud to be part of one of the oldest surviving cultures in the world.

Munda Wines was proud to be part of the Makers Showcase hosted by The Barossa Council, welcoming a delegation from our Sister City, Grapevine, Texas 🇺🇸🇦🇺

As part of the ongoing cultural and economic exchange program, we had the privilege of pouring our wines and sharing the deep roots of Aboriginal culture, language and land stewardship with industry leaders and elected officials.

Our guests were especially intrigued by our approach of honouring the Traditional Country where each wine is grown—an invitation to experience place through culture, not just geography.

Every delegate returned home with a bottle of Munda in their suitcase—and we hope, a deeper appreciation for the stories, wisdom and connection held in every glass. 🖤🍷
