2025 has been one of our biggest and most meaningful years yet.
We started the year by welcoming our new General Manager, Jess Greatwich, who has been nothing short of phenomenal. Jess brings 20 years of experience, strong leadership and a deep respect for what Munda stands for. Her impact has already been felt across every part of the business, and we are excited for what she will help us build next.
This year also saw Munda win the State and National First Nations Exporter of the Year, a moment of real pride for our team, our families, our partners and the Countries we represent.
We were part of some incredible events including the Red Gum Dreaming Dinner with legendary Chef Mark “Black” Olive, a beautiful night of food, culture, storytelling and connection. We had an amazing time working with the National Wine Centre and being part of CheeseFest, showcasing our wines and bringing more people into the Munda story. Throughout the year, our tasting events continued to be a highlight, meeting people who not only enjoyed the wine but appreciated the stories, culture and purpose behind it.
Strengthening Our Foundation
This year we focused on building Munda the right way, slow, steady and strong.
Honouring all the Countries our wines come from including Kaurna, Wadandi Boodja, Wurundjeri, Potawurutj, palawa kani Country and more
Working closely with growers, winemakers and partners who understand the respect behind our cultural storytelling
Staying committed to quality over quantity with every wine earning its place
A Year of Recognition
2025 was a year where others began to see what we have always believed that Munda is something special.
Winner of the South Australian First Nations Exporter of the Year
Winner of the National First Nations Export Award, Australian Export Awards
Growth of key relationships in Australia and overseas
National recognition for our approach to cultural storytelling through wine
These moments remind us that staying true to purpose works.
New Release: palawa kani Vintage Brut
The newest addition to the Munda family this year was our 2020 palawa kani Sparkling, a wine that stands as one of our most meaningful creations yet. This release marks a special moment for us, bringing together culture, celebration and storytelling in a way we have never done before. This Vintage Sparkling has been crafted with purpose, love and deep respect for the people and stories behind it. It carries a few powerful layers.
Emma, the inspiration
Emma worked closely with our winemakers on the look, feel and taste of this Sparkling. It was important to me that she genuinely loved it because her influence shaped every part of what this wine became. Her input, her eye for detail and the way she understands what Munda stands for have all played a huge role in bringing this wine to life. The feedback so far has been overwhelming and positive and I am incredibly proud of Emma and how this beautiful wine has turned out.
Honouring the palawa kani people
This wine is our way of honouring the inspiring palawa kani people. Using a name in palawa kani is a gesture of respect for the powerful language revival happening today and for the deep cultural strength that continues across the island. The stories, history, resilience, leaders and Elders of the palawa kani community deserve to be heard, appreciated and understood. This Sparkling carries that spirit and recognises the importance of their voice and identity.
A wine about celebration and identity
This Sparkling represents celebration, unity, cultural pride and powerful Aboriginal storytelling through wine. It was created with a lot of heart, and it means something special to everyone who has been part of the Munda journey.
People, Partnerships and Purpose
This year showed us how strong our relationships have become, from growers and winemakers to restaurants, tourism, hospitality and industry partners. These connections continue to shape our vision for a future where Munda is not just a wine company but a platform for cultural exchange, opportunity and storytelling that brings people together.
Looking Ahead to 2026
Heading into 2026, our path is clear.
Keep creating wines that honour Country
Strengthen the brand with better systems and deeper storytelling
Create more opportunities for First Nations people across wine, hospitality, tourism and export
Grow in a way that feels right culturally and for the long-term future of Munda
Hopefully open up more international markets and share our stories with the world
Continue to engage with the Traditional Owners of the Countries where our grapes are grown to elevate their stories, voices and people
There is so much more ahead.
The Munda Effect
The Munda Effect is more than a phrase. It is the impact created when culture, Country and storytelling come together through wine. It is the feeling people get when they learn the story behind a bottle and understand that every wine represents a place, a people and a living history. It is the connection that grows when someone shares our wine and feels proud to be part of something meaningful.
The Munda Effect is about elevating First Nations culture in a way that is strong, beautiful and authentic. It is about ensuring Traditional Owners are recognised, respected and seen in the places where their stories come from. It is about creating opportunities for our mob and building pathways in an industry that has not always been accessible to us.
Most of all, The Munda Effect is about bringing people together. When someone opens a bottle of Munda, they are not just tasting wine. They are experiencing story, Country, identity and a deep cultural spirit. That is the power of Munda. That is the effect we want the world to feel.
This is The Munda Effect.
A Final Word
To everyone who has supported Munda this year, thank you. Your belief in us, your connection to our stories and your support for our wines keep this journey strong. Every message, every shared bottle and every conversation about our purpose reminds us why we created Munda Wines in the first place. You are part of this journey just as much as we are.
We look forward to walking together into 2026 with the same pride, passion and respect that has carried us this far.
Yadu,
Pauly
