South Australia. IYKYK.

For those who know their own backyard - and love it. South Australia is home to some of the most celebrated wine-growing Country in Australia. Three Traditional Countries, three iconic regions, three wines that capture the character of the state in a glass.

The wines:

2022 Grenache | Ngadjuri & Peramangk Country (Barossa Valley, SA) Crafted with ninth-generation Barossa winemaker Marco Cirillo, from an 80-year-old dry-grown vineyard in Vine Vale. Aromas of raspberry, dried cherry, and spice; medium-bodied with layered tannins and savoury earthiness, balanced by a wave of spicy fruit. Aged for nine months in seasoned French oak. Elegant, deep, and built to cellar for up to 15 years.

2022 Syrah | Kaurna Country (McLaren Vale, SA) From Kaurna Country in McLaren Vale, hand-harvested before dawn. Blueberry, dark cherry, and spice on the nose; vibrant fruit, cacao, and warming spice on the palate, with the distinctive fine sandy tannins of the Blewitt Springs subregion. Reviewed 96 points.

2023 Cabernet Sauvignon | Potawurutj Country (Padthaway, SA) From Potawurutj Country in Padthaway, a region celebrated for structured red wines. Aromas of blueberry, violet, and dry autumn leaves; a fresh, vibrant palate of cassis, blood plum, and dark cherry, woven through with mocha and aged for 12 months in seasoned French oak hogsheads.
